The founder of SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) ‘Taher Elgamal’, will highlight the importance of Decentralized ID security

DID Alliance Korea announced that the security expert Taher Elgamal will speak at the main event of "DID Alliance Korea 2019," which will be held on the seventh floor of the El Tower Grand Hall in Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul on October 22.

Tacher Elgarmal not only created the basis for digital signature algorithms but he is also recognized as the “father of SSL”, the Internet security standard Secure Sockets Layer, for his paper entitled "A Public key Cryptosystem and A Signature Scheme based on discrete Logarithms”.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a key technology of Internet communication that ensures secure e-commerce by ciphering personal information sent and received between user PC and web server on the Internet. Accessing to a website that does not have an SSL secure server installed may result in an unauthorized exposure of personal information to other persons. Users can prevent access to phishing websites by using websites that applied SSL secure server, while companies that operate websites through SSL secure server can improve their corporate credibility.

Taher Elgamal received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the RSA Conference 2009, the world's largest cybersecurity event, and holds several patents regarding SSL, online security, transaction assessment and data compression.

Data integrity, security, and reliability are the key points of the user’s identification through blockchain based decentralized ID. Through his speech on “The Importance of Decentralized Identification Security Enhancement for Personal Information", Taher Elgamal will emphasize on the need to establish a secure user environment by increasing the security of DID.

Nowadays, several companies are currently developing multiple Decentralized ID-based identification service projects. In this context, Taher Elgamal commented: "User verification and security become critical aspects as Decentralized ID utilization gradually increases." He added that “the reliability of identification process is expected to increase by establishing global standards while strengthening cooperation with trusted institutions and companies that have expertise in security infrastructure."
